Hi, I can recommend the RAC too, they have helped me out on a few occasions over the last 15 years - thank goodness I always have breakdown cover!
Embarrassingly I know nothing about cars and only look under the bonnet every time I need the screen wash topping up! With the cover the RAC provide it's like having my dad around on call just in case I need him, and even better the RAC man doesn't tell me - "You should learn how to look after your car, back in my day we did everything ourselves" like my dad does!

I needed to call the RAC at the weekend after my car broke down. The call was taken very quickly and as i was on my own they promised someone within an hour. I was really impressed as they sent me regular text messages as to when the person was coming. It took 35 minutes and the guy was very nice and polite and fixed the problem quickly for me and was off. Would recommend them to anyone if you want a reliable service with a smile.
I was in my new 1963 Microcar driving home when it simply stopped. I had my tools and started to investigate. I had classic breakdown cover through my insurance cover. Out of the blue an RAC man pulled over asking if he could help. Within minutes we located a misplaced wire. A total gent even let me wash my hands in his sink in the van! How can you beat that?
Couldn't have been happier. RAC Breakdown Cover turned up within 5 minutes. Told me the alternator had gone, charged the battery to start it and then accompanied me to the local garage to have the repair done and took me back, all during the rush hour. I was back at home in under 45 mins! See why I can't complain? Maybe I was just lucky, don't know.
